Quotes often contain loads of product data. It can refer to performance, energy consumption, weight, lead time, certifications and more. Which data that should be included often depends on the choices made in the configuration. The product data needs to be handled in a smart way!
COMBINUM has supported managing of product data for a long time, but in version 1.6 it has reached new heights both in functionality and user interface. As good as all types of product data can be handled, files, numerical or text based product data with constant or dynamic values.
So, how is the data linked to the products options? The input can be both in the shape of charts and in a more advanced rule interface. Our philosophy that it should be easy to understand and work with COMBINUM without refrain the powerfulness infuses this area as well.

The product data's dependence on chosen options is often fairly simple. Many times the data is linked to a certain option like certification is linked to the chosen country. The weight can be dependent on several options, but their contribution should normally just be summarized. For lead time it is the option that has the longest time which is ruling. In these cases it is perfect to enter the product data in a table.

But sometimes reality is more complex. Let us say that we want to calculate the weight of a cylinder where length, outer diameter, inner diameter and material can vary. Here we can use a matrix for the material's density and then a formula for the weight calculation.

The product data can affect other product data like above with
the density affecting the weight. But it can also be used in other
rules in COMBINUM e.g. to calculate the freight cost as a function
of weight and volume.
